Bridal Shower

Yesterday my family had a bridal shower for me. We had wonderful food and ice cold lemonade which was awesome on a hot day. Then we played "The Price is Right", guessing the prices of grocery items and I won!  Auntie Ann came in second and Aunt Leone was furthest away, we all got mini roses :) We then played "Toilet Paper Bride" and all three teams did *amazing*! (There are pictures on facebook, I took them with my phone and don't know how to put them onto to the computer) Katie, Mary and Aunt Katherine won nail polish and file in a cute bag :) Then we did gifts, I am absolutely blown away by the generosity of everyone, Andy and I are set up to have a really nice kitchen and keep warm with soft blankets, one of which we used last night. Only 6 short weeks to go!

Our location!

We're excited for our destination wedding coming up so soon! Our location is set for "The Bay", family property on Birch Bay in Blaine, Washington, just south of the Canadian border.  Here is view where we'll be holding the ceremony, which will be much more green in August.

Just below the property is a private rocky beach with beautiful views of Birch Bay, much more clear in August than December.

We'd love to have you camp with us both Friday and Saturday night with your own gear. There are two cabins which can sleep about 6 people which will be available, please let us know if you'd like to cabin camp and we'll do our best to accommodate you :)

There is also a lodge with a full kitchen, bathrooms with showers and room to eat and chill.

We're looking forward to seeing you in August.

Engagement

Andy and I traveled to Seattle for my cousins wedding, which was absolutely beautiful. Afterwards we were talking about the wedding and how wonderful it was and he said that he wanted me to experience the same thing that he saw there which was love and family and fun. I started to feel my heart beating faster and faster as he spoke "will you marry me?" I actually asked him if he really asked that and then without and answer said an enthusiastic YES! He told me he wanted to ask me for some time but wanted to wait for the right moment, and this spontaneous one was it! He didn't have a ring yet so he drew me a ring in Sharpie Marker.

Before we told anyone Andy said he wanted to do something. He asked my Dad if he could see his guns. Then, both with guns in hand, Andy asked my Dad for his permission to marry me. To which my Dad said yes and that he better treat me well or he'll be coming after him, all this with a gun in his hand. This all happened on 4/29/12.

After getting back in Portland we went ring shopping. Andy picked out the most perfect ring ever. It's white gold with tiny little diamonds on the band and around the opal stone. I love it, but more importantly, I love him!

How it all began

Andy and I met on-line in December of 2010, meeting for the first time in February of 2011 and very quickly realizing that we were made for each other. On May 29, 2011 he asked if I would be his girlfriend and on April 29, 2012, following a beautiful family wedding we attended together he asked if I would marry him to which I gleefully replied yes.

We plan to have a destination wedding in late Summer 2013 with a pre-party in New Jersey in spring and an after-party in Portland, OR in fall. This blog will provide information along the way. We're so excited to have you in our lives as Andy and I continue on our journey with each other!
